Since my living room is bluish (which is also my favorite color), I went with cerise and blue.

And then when I found two different ribbons in cherry-red and blue plaid, I knew they would be the perfect backdrop for my tree.

Next I added solid ornaments in those ii colors, starting with the blood-red ones get-go.

Using different shapes help to make them look more interesting.

And then I added some dark blueish ones, as well in different shapes.

Then I found some red and blueish plaid ornaments that were perfect!

And added some finials that were blue trimmed with red.

And red trimmed with bluish.

All of the bluish and red ornaments aid to bring out the colors in the ribbon.

Add some sparkle

Of course, I think all Christmas copse demand some sparkle.

Then I added some gold and sparkly ornaments.

And since this is a nutcracker Christmas tree, some nutcracker ornaments were a given.

At this phase, the tree looks pretty good.

And I was thinking that I was done with the ornaments.

Until I saw these ruby and blue plaid prune-on poinsettias.

And just couldn't pass them up.

Even though the mantel decor is very unproblematic, I love how information technology ties in with the tree.
